Rising Sun Healing Center   "Reiki, The Healing Touch" Classes
Fall, 2008 Schedule

Instructor:
Chris Hanna, MSW, Reiki Master
Member, Vermont Reiki Association

Introduction:

The most remarkable aspect of Reiki is that anyone can learn it in a day long class. Reiki is not so much learned as it is transmitted by what is called an "attunement" (read my article 'The Mystery of Reiki in a world of Science'). The Reiki instructor performs a ceremony as the students sit quietly with their eyes closed. Students often experience heat in their hands and a tingling sensation at the top of their heads. Immediately afterwards they are able to transmit Reiki simply by placing their hands on another person.

There are four different levels of classes:

(Unless otherwise indicated classes will be held at the Rising Sun Healing Center, 35 King Street, Suite 7 Burlington, Vermont)

*If you want to take a class but can't attend on the date listed, contac me. I'll see if I can arrange my schedule so that you can receive the Reiki training.

The class described below, "Reiki Master's Training" will be offered periodically. Please contact Chris Hanna for the availability of this class.

Reiki Master's Training - 2 days plus follow-up

This class is for those who have successfully completed Reiki Level I, II and ART and have had plenty of hands on Reiki experience. Learn to give attunements for all of the classes. We will review course content for all of the classes. Practice and follow-up with the teacher.

This is an intense course and participants should be motivated by a strong desire to give attunements and teach classes. The Masters course will take you to a deeper place in your Reiki practice.

Cleansing process: Traditionally, there is a 21 day cleansing process that takes place after each class. Emotional or physical cleansing may take place in the form of colds or irritability. This usually passes quickly. Students are asked to practice Reiki on themselves for all 21 days.

Preparing for classes: To enhance your experience of the attunement it is suggested that for three days before the class you: decrease or eliminate the use of caffeine, don’t drink alcohol, minimize or stop eating sweets, cut back or eliminate smoking, don’t eat meat or fish, meditate one-half to one hour per day or spend time in silence, reduce or eliminate TV, radio, and reading newspapers; go for walks, spend time in nature, get some exercise, release anger, fear, jealousy, hate, worry, and envy; read material that is uplifting and inspiring.

A testimonial from this class...

"I am enjoying the peace that I have been able to obtain through Reiki. The class was wonderful and I'm so glad to be a part of this beautiful energy. I find that my state of mind is much deeper and calmer."

REIKI LINKS

VERMONT REIKI ASSOCIATION

The Vermont Reiki Association (VRA) was formed to educate the public about Reiki, give support to Reiki practitioners, Reiki teachers, Reiki students and work closely with the medical community. VRA gives hundreds of complimentary Reiki sessions at numerous community events and hospitals throughout Vermont each year. It also has Reiki sociaI gatherings and a website where practitioners can list their Reiki businesses if they so desire. I recommend the VRA to all my Reiki students. Yearly dues are currenly $10 for a basic membership and $30 for one that includes a listing of your Reiki business on the web site. As of this writing, the Association is filing for non-profit status.

LIABILITY INSURANCE

Reiki practitiones have been looking for affordable Reiki liability insurance for a long time. The least expensive liability insurance for hands on therapies, massage energy work and Reiki, etc. that I found, is $165 yearly, through the Hands on Trade Association. The Association was started by the founders of massage Magazine. The coverage is excellent and the folks that run the organization are very helpful.
